It is all a part of the multistate EMS Memorial Service. The procession made a cease in Chicago on its option to Arlington, Virginia.
“We realized that these folks have given their lives within the line of responsibility. We meet with a few of the households we assist them via conditions waiver forward for them,” mentioned Barbara Williams, a volunteer with the Nationwide EMS Memorial Service.
This yr, three of Chicago’s very personal first responders are being added to that nationwide memorial and family members of a few of these heroes have been there to soak up that honor.
“You will note three of our personal. Firefighter Paramedic Michael Pittman, Paramedic in Cost Duane Reade and Paramedic in Cost Robert Truevillian,” mentioned Hearth Commissioner Annette Nance.
“He gave his life for the job or for the general public and so it is good to see him being honored. It is simply every thing he deserves and extra,” mentioned Robert Cheeks, Truevillian’s member of the family.
Truevillian died from COVID-19 problems in December 2020. He was part of the Chicago Hearth Division for 20 years, an honor his household and colleagues will always remember.
