Metra service on Southwest Service, Heritage Corridor lines delayed by drawbridge malfunction

CHICAGO (TOC) — Metra trains service on a number of traces has been disrupted Wednesday morning after a drawbridge malfunction.

The malfunction at 14th Road has affected service on the Metra Southwest Service and Heritage Hall traces. At one level, trains have been stopped, however Metra later stated trains have been working with 20-25 minute delays.

Metra stated the drawbridge malfunction is expounded to the warmth increasing steel, with temperatures once more anticipated within the higher 90s Wednesday.

The tracks are owned by Amtrak, which has crews working to resolve the problem. Crews may very well be seen spraying water on the tracks to chill them down.
