CHICAGO — Jonathan Jackson, the son of civil rights chief the Rev. Jesse Jackson, has received the Democratic nomination for the first Congressional District within the Illinois main election, the AP projected.

There have been 17 Democratic candidates vying for Congressman Bobby Rush’s spot. He introduced his retirement after serving within the place for 30 years and being elected for 15 consecutive phrases.
Among the many area operating to exchange Rush was Karin Norington-Reaves, a federal workforce coach endorsed by Rush; Pat Dowell, a member of the Chicago Metropolis Council whose ward is within the district; and businessman Jonathan Swain.
