Highland Park parade shooting survivors describe seeing alleged gunman on roof during parade

HIGHLAND PARK, Ailing. — As Abby Brosio stood together with her father-in-law watching the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park on Monday morning, a hail of bullets started to fly from atop the constructing instantly throughout the road.

“I bear in mind trying round to attempt to determine the place the sound was coming from,” Brosio informed “Good Morning America” on Tuesday morning. “And I, in truth, seemed up on the neighboring enterprise throughout the road and noticed the shooter on the roof, and I simply screamed that it was a shooter.”

Her father-in-law was shot within the leg, she stated.

Six individuals had been killed and 31 others had been injured in Monday’s mass capturing in Highland Park, a suburb north of Chicago, in line with officers. Police stated on Monday they took into custody a 22-year-old individual of curiosity, Robert “Bobby” Crimo III, in reference to the incident.

Tony Brosio was inside Gearhead Outfitters because the capturing started. As parade spectators rushed the shop, seeking to take cowl, he helped coordinate. Video from inside the shop reveals crowds working inside. Some stumble, others look behind them.

“We had been simply making an attempt to get as many individuals as we presumably might inside,” he informed “GMA” on Tuesday. “Like I stated, it was simply intuition.”

Each the Brosios had the sensation that it “might by no means occur” to them that they’d be in an energetic capturing scenario, he stated.

“It was like a dream. All I might say to myself was, ‘This is not actual,'” Abby stated.

As Abby and her father-in-law reached the protection of Gearhead Outfitters, she realized that they’d each been hit by bullets, she stated. Each had been taken to an area hospital and later launched, she stated.
