Chicago shooting today: 18th Ward Alderman Derrick Curtis accidentally shoots self in Ashburn, police department says

CHICAGO — A Southwest Aspect alderman by accident shot himself Monday afternoon within the Ashburn neighborhood, the Solar-Instances has discovered.

Ald. Derrick Curtis (18th) suffered a gunshot wound to his wrist round midday whereas cleansing his gun within the 8200 block of South Christiana Avenue, based on a Chicago police alert.

Curtis was taken to Christ Medical Heart in good situation, the alert states.

A police spokesperson would not verify that Curtis had been shot as a result of the division would not publicly determine victims.

Police mentioned the sufferer has a legitimate FOID card and no different accidents or harm have been reported.
