Chicago carjacking: 2 in custody after Edgewater carjackers crash into fire hydrant, police say

CHICAGO (TOC) — Two individuals are in custody after a rideshare driver was carjacked within the Edgewater neighborhood Friday morning, Chicago police mentioned.

The 65-year-old rideshare driver was sitting in his automobile within the 1400-block of west Foster Avenue at about 12:27 a.m. when police mentioned two male suspects approached.

One suspect took out a gun and instructed the sufferer to get out of the automotive, which he did, police mentioned. They then fled within the sufferer’s Hyundai sedan.

A short while later, the carjackers crashed into a fireplace hydrant within the 1600-block of West Thorndale Avenue and had been taken into custody, police mentioned.

Nobody was injured and prices in opposition to the suspects are pending, police mentioned.
